Abstract: In order to study the compaction characteristics of supergranular soil and gravel mixtures, the geometricsimilarity method, the equivalent substitution method, and the rejection method are used to supergranularize the original gradation of soil and gravel mixtures, and to determine the optimal supergranularization method for soil and gravel mixtures at this site. The effects of the number of blows and stone content on the dry density of freshly graded soil and gravel mixtures are analyzed by means of heavy-duty compaction tests; and the bearing capacity of soil and gravel mixtures in the field is evaluated using the California bearing ratio (CBR). The results show that considering the effect of the equivalent treatment method on the gradation and maximum dry density of the soil and gravel mixture, the geometric similarity method is the best equivalent treatment method for the soil and gravel mixture at this site. There is an exponential function between the dry density of the supergranular soil and gravel mixture and the total number of blows. The optimum compaction times for the on-site soil-rock mixture is 150. The optimum rock content of the on-site soil and gravel mix is 70% with a CBR value of 10.7%.
